Today is the D-day for the much anticipated elections that were previously postponed. Despite the surrounding controversies, Nigerians were out in numbers to perform their civic duties today!
While the election process was expected to be peaceful, certain areas experienced insurgencies in forms of armed men, thugs and political oppositions. Ago Okota in Lagos state was troubled by gunmen who were chasing voters from the polling centers while several other locations within and outside the state have reported missing, scattered and burnt voting materials.
One teenager was reported dead after being hit by a stray bullet in Kogi State with another dead after an attack by thugs in Ibadan, Oyo state.
Results at different polling units are still being counted and collated by the INEC officials in Local Governments and States.
