We should endeavor to motivate our selves and value our self worth. Below are a few tips to guide you in boosting your self esteem!
- Avoid negative self talk
Never make the mistake of putting yourself down. Accept that it is human to make mistakes and there is no perfect person. Instead, learn to identify and challenge your negative self beliefs.
2. Learn to be assertive
When you don’t like yourself, you begin to think others don’t like you so you go out of your way to please them. You can start making little changes by learning to stop saying yes to everything, taking control of your decisions and sticking to them. Also, set boundaries on how much you do for others.
3. Focus on your positive sides
Instead of noticing negative things about your self, celebrate your successes, accept compliments from people, write what you love about yourself and remember them when you are down.
4. Surround yourself with people who love you
It is easy to feel bad about yourself as regards people treating you badly or not appreciating you. Therefore, surround yourself with people who treat you like you want to be treated and ask them how they feel about you to help reassess yourself.
5. Set a challenge for yourself
When you have a low self esteem, you feel you are good at nothing therefore, do more of the things you like doing no matter how little and know that you don’t have to be perfect at it, just enjoy yourself.
