The Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife(OAU) has commenced exams for its students despite the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
ASUU embarked on this industrial strike since November 4th , 2018 – the strike hasn’t been called off yet.
Exams kicked off on Monday, 14th of January,2019 for 2017/2018 session( second semester exams).
It was also gathered that some of the university lecturers who are under the ASUU body have been on strike while others who do not belong to the body(ASUU) are currently conducting exams for the students. The lecturers said they are members of the Congress Of Nigeria University Academics (CONUA) adding that the industrial action was not binding on them
Students have therefore expressed their displeasure about this situation. We hope that ASUU and the Federal government of Nigeria reach an agreement so that every public university can run a stable calendar and students can go back to school.
