ASUU SUSPENDS STRIKE AFTER 96 DAYS

On Thursday, 7th of February 2019, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) suspended the nationwide strike that began on the 4th of November, 2018.

Following a meeting with the FG and ASUU representatives, the announcement was made in the evening and broadcast-ed across major platforms.

The official twitter account for the union also stated that while they have struck a deal with the FG, the strike has only been suspended not called off completely.

Students nationwide took the news on two extremes, there were those who were elated at the news and there were others who were saddened by the news.

ASUU announced that academic activities are to resume with immediate effect today, 8th of February 2019.

We can only hope that the FG meets up with the conditions of the new agreement and ensure that the education of students continue unhindered.

How do you feel about the suspension?
