Whether you admit it or not, styling has a great impact on your lifestyle. It affects how people approach you and how they relate with you.
We know the right kind of styling can take a man from 0 to 100, and we believe that a man should look classy at all times, irrespective of what he’s wearing. Based off this, we have created a simple guide on how to dress simply without losing the essence of your personal style. This guide should act as a check and balance for you before you step out in any outfit so check it out below!
FITTED DOESN’T MEAN TIGHT!
Wearing a shirt whose buttons look like they are about to pop out isn’t wearing a fitted shirt, that’s tight! Getting a properly tailored cloth to fit your body frame to near exact size is fitted- not something you can’t lift your arms in.
The same rule applies to trousers. Honestly, baggy trousers do not look good on anyone except to make you appear unkempt and it is worse when they are too tight, you’d be thoroughly uncomfortable.
A fitted trouser and shirt would fit your body frame and make it look right on you like it was made for you.
So before you step out next time, while checking yourself out in the mirror, be certain that it’s fitted, not tight!
SIZE DOWN BEFORE SIZING UP
Whenever you go shopping for a suit, it is advisable to always check for a size smaller and try that on first. If it is too tight as opposed to fitted, then you can go a size bigger.
In simpler terms, if you’re a size 44, ask for a size 42 suit first and try that on. This would land you a better fitting jacket that would compliment you properly and if that size turns out to be too tight, you can go for a size 44.
Never, ever consider an over-sized suit!
IMPROPER TIE LENGTH
Men always look dapper when wearing a beautiful suit but some men ruin the dazzling effect with an improper tie length.
The tip of your tie should always end at the middle of your belt buckle or right above your waist band.
Do not go higher or lower than your belt buckle!
BELT COLOR AND FINISH
Although seemingly irrelevant, the color of your belt matters a lot to your overall look.
If you’re wearing dress shoes, make sure the color of your belt matches the color of your shoes.
Also, the finish of the belt and shoes has to match as well. If your shoes are shiny, you belt has to be shiny!
Socks are one of the most important aspects of dressing, which is pretty iconic when you consider their size. Regardless, when you are wearing dress shoes, be sure to properly pair the color of your socks with the color of your trousers. Black socks typically go with black dress shoes and black trousers. Black socks paired with brown shoes can make your outfit look a bit off balance so to be on the safe side, pair your brown shoes with blue socks and when in doubt, match your socks to your dress trousers.
Also, stay away from athletic white socks. That’s a major fashion fail! (Unless you’re a Sportsperson)
Accessories have an excellent way of tying your outfit together and no, it is not just a female thing.
Invest in some great wristwatches and add them to whatever outfit you would be wearing. Cufflinks are generally great accessories for a suit. You can never go wrong with these two!
UNBUTTONING YOUR JACKET
Fashion statement, basic ethics, or call it what you may, make sure to unbutton your jacket whenever you’re seated or right as you are about to sit. Not only will it make you a lot more comfortable, but the people around you would know you understand the basic know-how of fashion dos.
We hope this guide will make things easier for you in the area of fashion! Till the next post, stay handsome!
Stay style smart!
