FOODS YOU SHOULD STAY AWAY FROM!

It’s the weekend and we know how important relaxation is to health. Understanding that health is wealth, we have put together a list of foods that are widely consumed but also bad for the health.
So before you kick back and pick up one of those damage causing comfort meals, take a look at these.

CANNED FOODS

All canned foods have decreased nutritional value so it is beneficial to opt for fresh foods instead. If you can’t get your hands on fresh foods then go for frozen foods. Canned foods have flavorings and additives that reduces their nutritional value and make them harmful to your health.

RED MEAT

These are known to be high in saturated fat which increases cholesterol level and also causes premature aging. Go for healthier options such as white meat, fish etc.

SUGAR

Too much sugar intake can cause fatty liver disease. It also causes extreme weight gain. Some forms of sugar are worse than others but it’s advisable you stay away from too much sugar intake and substitute with natural sweeteners such as honey.

VEGETABLE OIL

Vegetable oil has a very large amount of omega 6 and polyunsaturated fatty acids which, when consumed in excess can be harmful. Although some source label it healthy, truth is, when consumed in high quantity vegetable oil can increase risk of heart disease. Make us of healthier options like coconut oil and olive oil.

LOW FAT YOGURT

Low fat yogurt that is stocked up in grocery stores can be unhealthy. They can be a great source of protein on a weight loss diet but because of the lack of fat, they tend to be loaded with sugar to give it more taste. In other words, low fat yogurt does more harm than good.

There you have it! Watch out for these and have a healthy, enjoyable weekend.
