Rotimi Adeyemo, an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority died at Iyana Ipaja on Wednesday 28 of November, 2018.
It was gathered that Adeyemo stopped a motorist who was said to be an operative of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad for violating traffic rule while controlling traffic at the Iyana Ipaja roundabout.
The motorist who was angry by the action of the LASTMA official, shot at the official. It was also reported that the motorist was seized by onlookers as he was trying to escape from the scene and then handed over to the police.
The offender was later identified as Olukunle Olonade, a police inspector attached to FSARS Ikeja.
People who witnessed the incident thought Olonade was an armed robber and mobbed him. He died on the way to the hospital after being rescued by policemen.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi ordered the posthumous trial and dismissal of the offender Olukunle Olonade. He directed that he be tried posthumously and be recommended for dismissal from the force.
