MCM FOR THE WEEK

He is known for his hit Song ‘Tonight’ and his dark-skinned charms.

Our Man crush for the week is Nonso Amadi.

Nonso Amadi is a Singer, Songwriter and Producer who was born in Lagos, Nigeria on September 1st 1995. He started his Chemical Engineering degree at Covenant University in Nigeria but finished up at Swansea University in the UK. He furthered his Engineering studies and bagged his Masters’ degree from McMaster’s University in Canada.

His Musical Career didn’t start until 2012 but he hit limelight when he moved to Canada and dropped his hit debut song titled ‘Tonight’ in 2015. He has been able to make his name as a producer since the song was self-produced. Shortly after he released his Extended Play (EP) called Alone. He later dropped another EP named ‘Wa’r. Other production works include Ride from Somewhere in Lagos EP by Oma Mahmud.

He likes to believe that his sound belongs to the Afrobeats with a mix of other genres such as RnB and Soul. He admits that he draws inspiration most importantly from Jon Bellion then Maleek Berry, Daniel Caesar and Brenda Fassie, among others.

He has musical dreams of working alongside Jon Bellion and being on the Billboard Lists. He has other long term dreams outside of music which includes having a Non-Governmental Organizations that caters for at least a thousand people.  

In 2017, he won Nigerian Teen Choice Award for Choice Male Vocalist.

City People Music Award for Alternative Artist of the Year (2017), Nigerian Teen Choice Award for Choice Male Artist (2017), Nigeria Entertainment Award for Most Promising Act to Watch (2017), Radio – The Headies Award for Best Alternative Song (2018), ‘Tonight’ – The Headies Award for Best R&B Single (2018), ‘Tonigh’t – The Headies Award for Best Vocal Performance Male (2018)

Nonso Amadi has an exceptionally catchy melody.
