NOLLYWOOD HALL OF FAME: 90s and Early 2000s #throwbackthursday

There have been some good old days in the Nigerian movie industry, days that had the typical story line of a husband bewitched by his “side” woman, evil mother-in-law VS wife drama and all the other laughable clichés.

Yet these movies wouldn’t have been complete without the actors in them so, today we are taking a flashback and bringing to you; THE NOLLYWOOD HALL OF FAME

OLU JACOBS

Olu Jacobs is known for playing the excellent Father figure role but there were also times he played antagonistic roles like a wicked king or brother. His extraordinary expertise earned him roles in Hollywood hit movies in the 1980s, which paved the way for a more flourishing career for him.

JOKE SILVA

We can’t mention Olu Jacobs without acknowledging his significant other and, vice versa. Joke Silvia starred in many films during the 90s and 2000s. Her acting speaks of eloquence which has left the younger actors looking up to her as she continues to feature in major Nollywood blockbusters.

SAINT OBI

If you don’t know Saint Obi then you should put some “respek” on our name! He was one of the most dominant faces on the TV screens since he entered the biz world through an advertisement by Peugeot on NTA. His acting career started in 1996 and by 2001, he had starred in over 60 movies. You can say he was the Nollywood ‘Arnold Schwarzenegger’.

OMOTOLA JALADE-EKEHINDE

This is another sensational Nollywood Actress whose career heat up during the 90s and the early 2000s. Her first ever movie she starred in was in 1995, at the age of 17. Between 1995 and 2005 she had starred in over 30 movies, one of them including the ever famous Blood Sisters which she acted alongside Genevieve Nnaji.

GENEVIEVE NNAJI

Right up next is, Genevieve Nnaji! Her career kick started in 1998 when she starred in Most Wanted at the age of 19. She has since gone on to star in various Nollywood classics and built a name for herself in most homes.

RICHARD MOFE-DAMIJO

Last, but definitely not least, is the dashing Richard Mofe-Damijo, also known as RMD. His good looks will definitely not go unnoticed when you pull up classical Nollywood movies. If he was not playing the role of a rich man’s son who just got back from “Yankee”, then he was the rich bachelor trying to steal your girlfriend –sometimes, both! His first movie was released in 1997 where he worked with another classic Nollywood Actress, Bimbo Akintola. Subsequently, he was always acting with Liz Benson and more frequently, Stella Damasus-Aboderin. Fun fact, it became so rampant that their fans wanted them to be an item so badly but it was just work.

Sorry, if you are still one of the heartbroken fans. There you go guys! Student Hub’s throwback hall of fame!

It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s difficult to get that “perfect balance” between superb usability
and visual appearance. I must say you’ve done a very good job with this.
Additionally, the blog loads extremely fast for me on Safari.
