University of Lagos (UNILAG) is set to be the first university with a television station as they launched UNILAG TV on 16th of January, 2019 and it would be shown not only in Nigeria but across West Africa. The station is set to air on Channel 184 on Startimes Digital Broadcasting Channel.
Speaking at the launch, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, said the official kickoff of the institution TV after two years of getting operating license became reality through the efforts of the management board under Prof. Falaiye and the doggedness of Prof. Ralph Akinfeleye in the facilitation of World Bank support in the donation of equipment for the station.
The vice chancellor also stated that this station is going to be one of the most reliable news sources by providing creative, facts-based and enlightening content.
The channel will exhibit content from all aspects including sports and entertainment.
According to him, the television station will equally have a time belt for the university’s distance learning packages.
